After Obama declared his plan for regulations on fuel economy, most automakers are showing their support, except Volkswagen. Titled the Corporate Average Fuel Economy or CAFE, which regulates that passenger cars and light trucks get 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025, VW is saying this is unfair because it unfairly targets passenger cars while large trucks companies receie special treatment. Some automakers that support the CAFE are Ford, Chrysler, General Motors, Hyundai, Toyota and Nissan. Nissan has released the worlds first electric vehicle the LEAF, come check it out at the Auburn WA Nissan dealer. According to VW passenger cars face a 5% yearly increase in fuel economy, while light trucks face a 3.5%, and while VW does not produce a truck, they do have a few light trucks such as the Routan and Touareg. They also say that this will push automakers to manufacture more large and inefficient models.
